Information About Imogen - Chesham teacher

Personal Description:

Hello! I am a violinist with a Bachelor's Degree from the Royal Academy of Music and a Master's from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. I started teaching in 2018, and graduated in 2022.

I am originally from York, and attended St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh for three years before starting in London. Since graduating, I have worked as a music tutor for Newham Music, played in Sinfonia Smith Square (formerly Southbank Sinfonia), and currently work at Brompton's Auctioneers, specialists in musical instruments. I have also recently played with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra as a freelancer.

I learnt the piano at school as far as ABRSM Grade 8, so I can accompany beginners. I also offer beginner piano lessons.

I moved to Chesham in June, so am looking for pupils here. Please include your location when you message me, and also please note that you need to have your own violin! I currently have the most availability on Wednesdays and at weekends.

Tutoring Experience:

I have the Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music teaching diploma, and seven years of teaching experience. I have taught privately, for Newham Music Service, at Halcyon International School, and on a summer orchestra course called Yorchestra.

Tutoring Approach:

I believe lessons should be fun, positive and approachable. The Academy's LRAM course has provided me with knowledge of approaches such as Alexander Technique, Dalcroze, Kodaly and Suzuki (I am not fully trained or qualified in these - however, I can incorporate the principles into my teaching!)

I use the teaching books Fiddle Time Starters/Joggers when starting off beginner pupils, and Tunes for Ten Fingers for piano.
