Hello! I am a violinist currently in my fourth and final year at the Royal Academy of Music, where I study with Sophie Langdon.
I am originally from York, and attended St Mary's Music School in Edinburgh for three years before starting in London. I have a lot of orchestral experience, including playing in the National Youth Orchestras of Great Britain and Scotland, as well as being an increasingly dedicated chamber player in the Mousai Quartet based at the Academy.
I also learnt the piano while at school as far as ABRSM Grade 8, so can use my piano skills to accompany beginner violin pupils.
Having benefited from brilliant teachers since I was 5, I would love to give something back! I am happy to tutor anyone of any age, so do get in touch if you are interested in some lessons!
I am studying for the LRAM teaching diploma, and have been teaching adults, teenagers and children privately since September 2018.
I believe lessons should be fun, positive and approachable. The Academy's LRAM course has provided me with knowledge of approaches such as Alexander Technique, Dalcroze, Kodaly and Suzuki (I am not fully trained or qualified in these - however, I can incorporate the principles into my teaching!)
I use the teaching books Fiddle Time Starters/Joggers when starting off beginner pupils, as well as writing some of my own exercises out on manuscript paper for the pupil where necessary.
