Personal Description:

Hello!

I am an experienced Piano and Harp teacher. I specialise in tutoring younger musicians/beginners (I am currently part-way through a Certificate in Music Education for Children).I have specially adapted worksheets and activities to engage young children in the music learning process.

As a teacher, I believe that finances should never be a barrier to accessing musical training. If you are from a low-income household, please get in touch and we can discuss more affordable routes.

Tutoring Experience:

I am classically trained with Grade 8 Distinctions in both Harp and Piano and 2 years teaching experience.

Alongside my musical training, I have a full DBS Check and a certificate in Safeguarding Children in Music Education.

Tutoring Approach:

Technique and theory: When teaching and ensure that all my students have a solid basis in theory alongside the creativity of music.

Teaching material: I usually teach from the ABRSM exams and John Thompson beginner piano series, but can also teach Trinity or adapt to the individual preferences of students and families. These basic course materials are supplemented as needed for individual students with uniquely designed activities and worksheets made by me.

Teaching style: I centre all my lessons around a connection between the student and the piano/harp, promoting an appreciation of the power of the instrument and the music they are playing. Within my lessons I also try to include elements of mindfulness as I believe that this helps students to get more out of their instruments and their practice times. Students are expected to keep practice diaries, tracking their progress and goals, promoting independent learning and a deeper musical connection and understanding.
