Personal Description:
My name is Ian and I am a 30 years old, very enthusiastic teacher who has taught in almost every scenario. I have a passion for many things from basketball (played for south east England and national league), judo, weight training through to more common things such as cooking, travelling, video games and films.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught in scenarios ranging from University, Secondary, private and PRU education. I get referred students of all abilities from the complete beginner to highly technically demanding styles such as jazz, prog and metal. I also have great experience/success with students who have SEN. This experience ranges from students who are autistic, suffer from social anxiety disorder through to those in the foster system or young offenders.
Tutoring Approach:
I have a broad approach to teaching that is designed around the individual student and their learning style. If it is visual I use a variety of computer programs that help develop understanding of rhythms, sight reading etc. (strobe metrononomes, TuxGuitar and MuseScore2). I also can cultivate ear training with editing tracks for better home study i.e. slowing down to various speeds, cutting up into repetitive chunks and incorporating a metronome as well as teaching Solfege.
Styles I am proficient at include folk, finger style, classical, rock, jazz, country and metal. I own a variety of guitars of course that cater to playing all these disciplines including my most recent acquisition, an extended range 8 string electric guitar for my own progressive music projects.
The rates advertised whilst for an hour, the vast majority of students take half hour lessons. There are a number of positive reasons for this and mostly with new concepts that is concentration. My job is to help you become aware of areas you can improve whilst boosting confidence and ability in the shortest time possible. 30 minutes is perfect for the vast majority, longer lessons I would suggest for those with severe learning difficulties, confidence issues or playing at a very high level.

I would wholly recommend Ian to anyone and everyone.
From the first lesson he has put me at ease and intuitively introduced learning styles that suit the aging rock goddess I am aspiring to become.
Thank you Ian for being an awesome Instructor.
As a parent of a woman who is on the autistic spectrum ian put my mind at rest in knowing she was in safe hands.he is funny, calm, patient and is on the end of the phone if we need him.my daughter thinks he is great.they have a lot in common
