Personal Description:

I'm a professional musician based in Barnoldswick (Lancs), specialising in Composition, Piano, and Improvisation. I am also a PhD researcher at the University of Huddersfield.

I am able to travel locally, and am happy to take any queries you may have online, or via meeting as per arrangement.

Tutoring Experience:

I have wide experience teaching beginner - advanced level students in Piano, Composition, and Music Theory, and beginner to intermediate students in Singing. I hold a Master of Arts Degree, and Bachelor of Music (Hons) degree with Distinction in Composition from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

I have worked extensively with established performers of all ages across the United Kingdom and Europe, including the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra, the Ensemble Modern, Scottish Opera, RedNote, and others, as both a composer and performer.

Outside my teaching life, I work in diverse fields within the performing arts, as a performer, composer, improviser, and curator.

Tutoring Approach:

I am a firm believer that music learning should be fun, creative, and encourage all my students to find out what it is about music that they love.

I aim to foster a spirit of curiosity, so that students can find their own relationship with their instrument, while also maintaining the highest level of technical ability to ensure they have the tools to express themselves freely.
