Information About James - Chipping Campden teacher
This is how 2 referees rated James:
I studied at the Royal Northern College of Music and Manchester University with one of the pre-eminent piano teachers in the UK. In my career as a pianist I performed throughout the UK and broadcast live on BBC Radio before moving into music education where I have spent the last 30 years working with young musicians of all different abilities. I still perform as soloist and chamber musician and teach piano at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.
As a young person I taught for Wigan Education Authority for many years, working with children in groups and giving individual lessons. Following this I taught at the Birmingham Conservatoire, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and currently I am working at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I have taught from beginner to the highest professional level, and all ages from young children to adults.
I engage with all my students and use a variety of teaching methods to suit each individual's needs. My aim is to make each lesson enjoyable and challenging, setting long and short-term goals to inspire and encourage. I place great emphasis on listening, and with my younger students will incorporate listening games into each lesson.
With my advanced students I work on technical development, sound production, musicality and performance practice. I have a great knowledge of the piano repertoire and am very experienced at choosing pieces for each student.
I am equally experienced at teaching students for whom the piano is a hobby and those who have ambition to pursue a career in music.
My lessons take place in my music studio where I have a Yamaha C3 grand piano. This space is also used for concerts, and my students have the opportunity to perform if they wish.
