Personal Description:
I am an energetic and enthusiastic former Head of Music, and I hold a Master's degree in Education from The University of Cambridge. I am passionate about musical theatre (having worked on projects at the National Theatre and in the West End) and innovative, engaging teaching strategies focussing around the student's musical interests. I have worked as a composer and musical director for Youth Music Theatre UK, and composed film scores for 3 short films and radio plays.
Tutoring Experience:
I have been teaching music for around 15 years, in both one-to-one and classroom settings. I have been Head of Music at two different schools and have a Master's degree in education focussing on innovative teaching strategies.
Tutoring Approach:
I believe that lessons should be tailored towards the requirements and character of the student - grades are not for everyone, and it is of primary importance that the student is making progress, exploring their creativity and enriching themselves. Students should be encouraged to explore a range of styles and should not need to be 'forced' to practice - if the musical material is right they should be hooked from the start!
