Personal Description:

Recent graduate music student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, studied flute with Sheena Gordon and voice with Marilyn Smith.

I am able to cater to shared lessons at a discount price and can teach music theory in preparation for exams or to support practical lessons.

I am also able to travel to the pupil's home depending on the location.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been playing flute for over 10 years now, achieving a distinction in my ABRSM grade 8 at the age of 16. From 2008, I attended the Junior department of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for 4 years where I studied with John Hall (principal piccolo player of Welsh National Opera). Soon after, I began my studies with Sheena Gordon after accepting my place on the Bachelors of Education course at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. I am also currently studying voice with Marilyn Smith (conductor of Glasgow Phoenix Choir).

Throughout my time, I have had vast experience with playing in various ensembles: orchestras, chamber groups, concert bands, wind ensembles and choirs. I have taken part in concerts, competitions and masterclasses as both a soloist and as part of a group.

I have a strong knowledge in theory and composition and encourage my pupils to learn some basic musical theory and learn about the historical context of their pieces as this would greatly develop their musical knowledge and understanding.

I currently work as a part-time music teacher in Hyndland, Paisley and regularly cover for other tutors in Greater Glasgow area. I also sing for the RSNO chorus which rehearses weekly Wednesday evenings.

Tutoring Approach:

I am enthusiastic and have a great passion for music and teaching. Pupils do not need to work towards exams or auditions as I am a strong believer that music should be played for enjoyment!
