I teach privately one-to-one lesssons and have had experience in taking cello sectionals for orchestras in South Wales and Hackney Youth Music Service. I have been involved in the Southbank Centre's FUNharmonics workshop days where I have introduced the cello to children between the ages of 18 months and 10 years. In October 2017 I was a tutor for Cello Folk! at Cecil Sharp House in London organised by the London Cello Society. I am also a visiting cello teacher at schools in South London.
I like to motivate my students and am happy to organise ABRSM or Trinity exams should the pupil wish to take them when the suitable level has been attained. It is worth discussing what the student's ambitions are before commencing lessons. However, exams are not for everyone and therefore I am happy to teach those who would rather not take exams. Equal development can take place either way!
I like my pupils to feel that they are in control of their own learning and in order to do this I place a lot of emphasis on how to truly listen to yourself to develop this. Please do not hesitate in contacting me if you are interested in lessons. I strive to understand my pupil's needs when learning as no one person is the same as the next. I am therefore flexible in my teaching and aim to create an enjoyable atmosphere in which my pupils can learn.
