Information About Guy - Brixham teacher
I began playing the trumpet in a marching band when I was nine years old. I quickly progressed to playing in County Orchestras & local bands followed by studying Music at University.
Based in Torbay, Devon, I now play for the Torbay Symphony Orchestra, I manage and play in a local Soul band called Dodgey Practice, and when available dep for other local bands. I also teach trumpet and play as a soloist for wedding ceremonies and other occasions.
After four years of managing a campsite I have turned to my real love - music.
I have already found the extra skills I have gained through management help me to create structured lessons for my students that make the most of their lesson time, as well as helping them make their own practice time as productive as possible.
I have fun in my lessons, and often play duets with my students which I find helps promote a musical way of playing.
Throught my musical education I have found that each time I move up to the next level that many important basics have been missed out by previous teachers or music lessons in school.
My aim as a teacher is to provide my students with enjoyable lessons which cover as much useful information as I am able to pass on, and enable them to enjoy playing, listening and being part of a musical group.
I believe that students should have the know how to approach a piece of music, even if they are not yet of the standard to fully play the piece yet.
