Information About George - Greenwich teacher

Personal Description:

Performer/Teacher/Songwriter George is much in demand as a freelance musician. He was awarded the concert recital diploma for outstanding performance upon graduating the Guildhall School in 2021. He has gone on to play at festivals and events in the UK and abroad, most recently the Fifa Fan Festival at the Qatar World Cup 2022! Covering many styles including contemporary jazz, pop, soul, orchestral, lead trumpet, swing and funk, he is at home in a variety of musical settings. His band Forget Regret is up and coming on the London scene and are bringing out their first album in 2023.

Tutoring Experience:

I have taught privately for almost five years, covering everything from music theory to jazz improvisation! I also teach weekly at Planet Drum in Islington where my brass students engage in both one-to-one and ensemble lessons. I've lead group workshops involving improvisation with bands such as the Brass Funkeys, jazz ensemble work with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and even orchestral brass playing as a member of the National Youth Orchestra when I was a teenager.

Tutoring Approach:

I love getting to know my students and understanding their specific goals in music. Whether it is learning an instrument to a level that they can perform and play as part of a band/ensemble, developing their ability to turn their ideas into songs/compositions, covering their grade 5 theory or learning to improvise for the first time. I tailor my approach as to the personality and learning style of the student. I always keep in mind a specific goal that they are working towards so that you can feel you are progressing in a tangible way!
