Personal Description:

Hi! I am a pro guitarist, fully qualified guitar tutor, secondary school music teacher (PGCE) and a former grade examiner. I cover London, some of Bucks and visit your home, (subject to availability and area of course). I teach all styles and levels of electric guitar, acoustic guitar, classical guitar, bass guitar and theory of music. I also teach music technology and production. I am frequently involved in both studio and live production and am able to provide tuition in these areas. I hold a BA (Hons) in music. I also hold a LLCM teacher's diploma in electric guitar teaching. I have been lucky enough to have been taught by some of the best teachers around such as Sean Baxter, Justin Sandercoe and Dario Cortese to name a few. I have studied at the Guitar Institute in London and various Universities. I have played on signed recordings, worked with many bands / singers on many projects and played live for 22 years. I teach electric, acoustic, classical and bass styles all from absolute beginner to degree or postgraduate level AND all in your own home, so no need to travel to me! I specialise in teaching beginners to get them started the right way from day one. I am able to teach you whatever style you wish to learn and incorporate the songs you love whilst also helping you to develop your technique and theory wherever necessary. I am easy-going, patient and I love being part of student's development and seeing them progress and reach their goals. I'm always honoured to be chosen to help anyone develop their skills.

Tutoring Experience:

As a private teacher, I teach all ages, all levels and all types of learner. Many of my students are adults, some are pensioners, some are still in primary school. I have taught in over 70 primary and 50 secondary schools throughout London and the south east of England. For 20 years, I have delivered lessons to thousands of students, including both small and large classes and one-to-one. As a qualified secondary school teacher, I have also taught GCSE and A-Level music, so can provide tuition for pupils of these courses. I have a lot of experience of teaching beginners, which I very much enjoy, right through to preparing students for important University entrance auditions and examinations. Plus, I am a former RGT grade examiner, so am very well placed to advise on all aspects of these examinations. My private students who took grades have a 100% pass rate over the past 20 years and around 80% of these achieved distinctions. I am very proud of all of you! :-)

Tutoring Approach:

I know it can be quite scary to actually book a lesson! :-) It's quite a big decision when you think about it. A whole new adventure with a total stranger leading you. I understand that everyone learns in their own way and my job as a teacher is to enable you to learn in YOUR particular way and adapt each time to personalise your lesson to you. Lessons are subsequently engaging and fun, as well as informative. Whether you just want to learn songs for purely for fun, or are formally studying music, I focus on how to help YOU develop. The biggest advantage of being taught by a fully trained, qualified teacher is saving students a LOT of time (often literally years!) and wasted energy. I have taught many people who have previously tried one or two unsuitable methods with unqualified teachers, or perhaps tried to learn online and had to start over and re-learn properly. Go directly for the smoothest path the first time and you will save yourself a lot of trouble, believe me!
