Information About Freya - Aberdeen teacher

Currently studying a joint honours degree in English and Music at the University of Aberdeen.
Music has been a massive part of my life since I was very young, having played traditional fiddle for around 13 years.
I started playing the flute when I started secondary school, and continue to study the instrument at university. I am also part of the university concert band which I enjoy immensely.
Apart from music I have a love of reading, socialising and being with my family.
Having been part of a traditional fiddle group in Perthshire for a good majority of my life I have gained a few years of teaching experience from there. I have taught those all all ages, from very young to very old! I have also received a voluntary award for all my hours of teaching.
I haven't had much teaching experience from teaching the flute, but it is something I would love to do a lot more of and have a real passion for the instrument.
When it comes to the fiddle I would like to teach my pupils without much aid from music. When I started learning, it was all done by ear, which in the end became a precious skill to me, being able to listen to music and play it back without much aid from music. Of course, I am more than happy to use music if the pupil wishes it, but learning by ear is great fun and turns into a great skill. With the flute I will teach with music.
I would like to have a casual, informal approach to teaching whilst catering to the needs and wishes of my pupils. Learning an instrument is fun, and I would like to keep it that way!
