Information About Evan Rhodri - Leeds teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Evan Rhodri:
I am a mandolinist, guitarist, singer and composer based in Leeds, UK.
I have been playing guitar since I was twelve, beginning in rock and moving into bluegrass and folk later. I picked up the mandolin 6 years ago and it has since become my main instrument.
Over the last 5 years, I have gained invaluable experience playing bluegrass and folk. With my band The Kentucky Cow Tippers I have played festivals across the UK and travelled Europe, playing in Germany, Belgium, Netherlands and France, where the band took 2nd place at the La Roche Bluegrass Festival 2016 band competition.
I am currently performing and writing for bluegrass band The Often Herd who have an upcoming EP release (March 2018) and accompanying tour.
Through my musical academic exploits (GCSE, A Level, BA) and my performance projects, I have also developed a detailed knowledge of music theory.
I have taught mandolin and guitar for 3 years to students of varying ages and levels.
Since September 2017 I have been a mandolin tutor at Leeds College of Music.
I primarily teach folk, bluegrass and old-time on the mandolin and guitar. Beginner teaching will start less specific and can move in any direction the student wishes to take it.
My tuition places an emphasis on developing fretboard knowledge, improving listening skills, improvisation/creativity and building technique/repertoire from any style of music.
I notate music/tablature where it's necessary to provide a reference and use recordings of myself and the student to help personal development.
