Information About Esther - Cheltenham teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Esther:
After 10 years at Chethams School of Music I attended the Royal Academy of Music graduating in 2009 with a BMus (II.I) awarded by the University of London, and a 'first' in my teaching licentiate (LRAM).
From a very young age I have performed at a high level. In my ten years at Chethams' School of Music and later at the Royal Academy of Music, I performed concertos and worked with conductors such as Sir Colin Davis, Edward Gardner, Mark Elder and Yan Pascal Tortelier. I toured the UK and Europe playing chamber music and performed a solo live on Radio 3. I currently pursue my own performance on a free-lance basis in orchestras and with chamber groups as well as giving regular solo recitals around the country.
In January 2019 I took up the position of Head of Strings at Headington School, Oxford and have recently moved to this area. I have previously worked for the Junior departments at Guildhall school of Music and Drama and Trinity Laban in London. I have a broad range of teaching experience having worked for the music charity 'Sistema in Norwich', local music services and chamber music summer schools. My pupils have a 100% success rate at ABRSM and Trinity music exams and have gained scholarships and places at Junior Academy, Junior Guildhall and Junior Trinity in London, NCO, NYO and also more local orchestras. I have experience working with children with a range of disabilities.
I work with all ages and abilities and believe teaching is not just about learning the instrument but using the instrument as a vehicle to develop as an individual. I have a nurturing personality and am flexible in my teaching as students will often respond to different approaches and stimuli. I believe it is important for music making to be enjoyable so for younger children I implement games and challenges as part of the lesson and work with repertoire to suit the student.
