Personal Description:

I am a Classically trained pianist who sometimes performs charity recitals.I have the ability to improvise music and maintain a repertoire covering the works of J.S. Bach through to Minimalist and other modern composers. As a pianist I have gained gold and silver awards at the Cheltenham Competitive Festival after performing the Classical works by Beethoven and Schubert. I have a great love for the piano music of Chopin and Liszt and I have performed some of their works including Chopin's Ballades nos 3 and 4, Polonaises as well as various miniatures (waltzes, mazurkas, preludes etc). I have a BA (hons) with a 2:1 division in music and grade 8 piano which I passed with distinction (141/150). I received a 1st in piano performance as part of my music degree.

Tutoring Experience:

I teach children and adults of all abilities and I base my teaching strongly on Western Classical practices, however I do teach popular music styles as well.
I first started teaching the piano in 2004 and have continued to teach whilst pursuing my degree in music. I have 9 years of piano teaching experience. I have a 95% pass rate, with over 47% pass with distinction rate. I encourage pupils to participate in school assemblies, recitals and local music festivals.

Tutoring Approach:

I provide a friendly and enthusiastic approach for my students. I am patient and believe that all my students have the potential to achieve their very best in playing the piano and understanding music theory.I do encourage my pupils to achieve ABRSM piano exams as this gives them high self-esteem, however I also offer piano lessons for fun.
I teach music theory, harmony, aural skills, improvisation and composition in addition to piano repertoire. I also teach scales and finger exercises to improve finger dexterity at the piano keyboard, I do this by using "A Dozen a Day" series which are a fun way to practise finger exercises.

I teach both children and adults so it's never too late to learn!

The first trial session is £5 and I offer a 10% discount for 10 lessons booked in advanced
