I am a 2015 graduate of the University of Aberdeen. The highlight of my time at university was tutoring piano. I am always looking for new pupils. Please feel free to get in touch!
I have taught ages 4-18 for the past 7 years, assisting my pupils through ABRSM exams grades 1-5. I am also happy to give casual lessons without taking exams. I pride myself on having sparked a strong interest in music in young children who have continued to study piano as well as other instruments as they progress through school. I have also tutored for SQA music exams.
My approach to teaching beginners is that lessons should always be relaxed and fun. I do not believe in putting a huge amount of pressure onto a young child, and therefore I aim to make sure my lessons are as fun and interesting as possible so that my pupils are eager to learn more. With regards to graded exams, I have always found that a structured approach to learning pieces, scales and aural skills is hugely beneficial, so I provide my pupils with a practise plan. I also dedicate a portion of each lesson to performance skill, as this is such an important element in becoming a well rounded musician.
