I am a professional classical singer and teacher based in Catford. With over ten years of experience, I am passionate about teaching singing at any level, from absolute beginners to more advanced performers who are considering a career in the world of music and performing arts. I studied for 6 years at the Royal College of Music, London both as an undergraduate and Masters student. I graduated with Distinction in July 2017 and since then have kept myself busy working as a performer and teacher.
I teach lessons from home and I am also happy to travel.
Due to the ongoing pandemic I can offer online lessons via Zoom if preferable as well as in person. Please contact me to discuss.
For the last ten years I have been teaching both on a one to one basis and in group sessions. As well as teaching private pupils of all ages, I have worked as a vocal coach for various theatre companies, for performing arts centres such as Stagecoach and also as a peripatetic singing teacher in various schools. I feel delighted to be able to work with aspiring singers of all ages, backgrounds and experience, and I thoroughly enjoy teaching at every level.
I believe that singing is wonderful for the soul and a fantastic way to engage your mind and body. It’s so exciting for me as a teacher to help a student along on their music journey and to see them unlock their potential. Music is a powerful force and there is honestly nothing better than seeing the positive impact it has on people. I encourage my students to maintain a goal; something to work towards whether it’s finally getting up and singing at an open mic, preparing for an exam, auditioning for a production or putting on a recital! I believe that everyone has a voice and that nobody should ever feel discouraged from making it heard and I pledge as a teacher to help each pupil discover their own identity within the world of song.
As an accomplished pianist I also accompany my students in their lessons. I strive to help singers who want to improve their singing technique, prepare for an audition or performance, be a more confident performer, expand their repertoire or just sing for pleasure and to have fun! I believe that firmness and fairness is key to helping a pupil along the way and that a down to earth 'can do' attitude from both teacher and pupil can make all the difference.
I have a piano at home and prefer to accompany my students in their lessons so please take this into consideration if you do not have access to a piano at home!

CANCELLATION POLICY: (please read carefully)
I understand that life isn't always straight forward and plans can change so I have a cancellation policy in place that I believe to be as fair as possible for both my students and me. This is my job and I rely on the income from my lessons but I don't like to see my pupils part with money without receiving a lesson. I can be flexible provided that we're on the same page! :)
If a student cancels their lesson with me with less than 24 hours notice of their scheduled lesson time then I will ask for payment in full. However, if you can rearrange your lesson for an alternative time we are both available for within 4 days of your scheduled date then you won't be charged. For example, if you have a lesson scheduled for Monday and can reschedule for Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday then you won't be charged for the missed lesson and you will only pay for the rescheduled lesson. If you need to cancel your rescheduled date then I will ask for payment in full.
If a student cancels their lesson with more than 24 hours notice then I respectfully request that we can reschedule for a time that same week if possible.
In the unlikely event that I need to reschedule or cancel a lesson, I will always give as much notice as I reasonably can.
This policy doesn't apply if you are using the block lessons option; if you need to reschedule one of your four lessons then I ask that you try to give me as much notice as you reasonably can.
Please bear this policy in mind before booking with me and if you have any questions regarding this policy I will be more than happy to answer!
