I am a professional classical singer and teacher based in East London. I have ten years of teaching experience under my belt and am extremely passionate about teaching singing at any level, from absolute beginners to more advanced performers who are considering a career in the world of music and performing arts. I studied for 6 years at the Royal College of Music, London both as an undergraduate and Masters student. I graduated with Distinction in July 2017 and since then have kept myself busy working as a performer and teacher. I am particularly passionate about art song!
For the last ten years I have been teaching both on a one to one basis and in group sessions. I have worked as a vocal coach for various theatre companies and also teach in performing arts academies such as the New London Centre of performing Arts and Stagecoach. I feel delighted to be able to work with aspiring singers of all ages, backgrounds and experience, and I enjoy teaching at every level!
I believe that singing is wonderful for the soul and a fantastic way to engage your mind and body. It’s so exciting for me as a teacher to help a student along on their music journey and to see them unlock their potential. It is important to me that my students always maintain a goal; something to work towards whether it’s finally getting up and singing at an open mic, preparing for an exam, auditioning for a production or putting on a recital! I believe that everyone has a voice and that nobody should ever feel discouraged from making it heard! Singing is so special for so many reasons; one of those reasons being that you literally are your instrument and that no instrument is the same. I pledge as a teacher to help a pupil discover their own identity within the world of song!
As an accomplished pianist I also accompany my students in their lessons. I strive to help singers who want to improve their singing technique, prepare for an audition or performance, be a more confident performer, expand their repertoire or just sing for pleasure and to have fun! I believe that firmness and fairness is key to helping a pupil along the way and that a down to earth 'can do' attitude from both teacher and pupil can make all the difference.
I charge £30 for a one hour lesson. I have a piano at home and prefer to accompany my students in their lessons so please take this into consideration if you do not have access to a piano at home!
