Personal Description:

I grew up in Bristol, beginning my flute studies at a young age. I continued my studies at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama where I gained an Upper Second Class BMus (Hons) degree. I am currently teaching privately in Bristol and Cardiff and have previously worked as a whole class instrumental teacher for primary schools. Although flute is my main instrument I also enjoy playing the piccolo, clarinet and saxophone and I am very enthusiastic about teaching and performing music.

Currently lessons are available on Saturdays in Cardiff and weekdays in Bristol and Nailsea.

Tutoring Experience:

I gained training in teaching as part of my degree course working with professional musicians in developing teaching skills. I also have received a DipABRSM in Instrumental Teaching (flute).

I now teach private pupils of a variety of ages and standards in Bristol, Nailsea and Cardiff. I am passionate about teaching and passing on my skills to others and am a current member and registered private teacher of the ISM. I also have experience as a Whole Class Ensemble Tutor, teaching instruments to classes of primary school pupils. My private students range from child and adult beginners, to returners and those pursuing advanced studies beyond grade 8 and those at university. I have experience with a wide range of ages - ages 6 to 74!

Tutoring Approach:

I aim to provide a fun and positive environment for learning no matter what your ambitions in music are. From working towards formal graded examinations to learning to play for fun, I want to help you achieve those goals. All ages and standards of pupils are welcome. Returning students who would like a supportive teacher to assist them in reconnecting with their instrument are also encouraged to get in touch.

Contact me if you have any questions or to arrange an introductory lesson and get started on your musical journey!
