I am a highly enthusiastic, energetic teacher and free lance musician who enjoys engaging with people of all ages. I believe in the importance of communication between people whether it is by words, visual stimuli or music. I consider myself to be open minded and creative whilst being able to enable people to achieve their goals.
Regarding my professional background:
I have spent 12 years learning in specialist music schools in Poland followed by 5 years of education at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire with classical violin as my first study and viola as my second study. I have participated in orchestral schemes with CBSO, Royal Ballet Sinfonia and WNO Orchestra. I also have been a section leader in several youth orchestras, both in Poland and in the UK.
Despite being classically trained, I am also interested in Irish fiddling, both in a traditional and more modern style. I have performed as a part of a bigger ensemble on several big folk festivals around the UK, to include Shrewsbury, New Forest and Towersey. I have also given more than 200 concerts in many diverse venues with newly formed UK's street orchestras, playing a mixture of classical, folk, pop, rock, metal, funk and even rap and performed in several concerts and theatre productions involving improvising on stage.
Additionally, I am a committed and active chamber musician rehearsing and performing music with my string quartet, I have public liability insurance and I belong to the ISM.
In addition to teaching students of varying abilities beginning from my late high school times in Poland, I have undertaken pedagogy modules at the Conservatoire which gave me the opportunity to observe 1 to 1 and group teachings performed by well - established instrumental teachers.
I also have a very wide outreach experience which includes working with children – those include both casual and more formal environment of intercultural youth orchestral exchange.
Highly tailored to the needs of the student, treated with a holistic approach; whether it is working towards grades / exams or playing for fun. Those include teaching the theory, aural training, dealing with the physical tension whilst playing, helping with the instrument set up and maintenance or teaching basics of chamber music / playing with backing tracks.
I believe my role is first and foremost to provide a good foundation for the student's musical independence and once it is achieved, to nurture the process of musical exploration. The right amount of challenge is needed and, although regular practicing and improving concentration is essential, I believe this process should be enjoyable and enriching for all my students.
