Hello, I am a recent graduate from the Royal Birmingham Coservaoitre, having studied the Bachelor of Music with Honours course for four years, with a first study of Percussion and Timpani. I am a passionate musician and educator, with over 10 years of experience in the field, including performances at some of the most prestigious UK and Russia concert venues. These include the Royal Albert Hall, Birmingham Symphony Hall. Usher Hall, Snape Maltings and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall in the UK, and the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, St Petersburg Philharmonic and the Sochi Concert Hall in Russia. I have held membership in a variety of classical musical ensembles, including the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, the Britten Shostakovich Festival Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Youth Orchestra. During my time in the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, I was tutored by professionals such as Adrian Spillett, Toby Kearney, Andrew Herbert, Matthew Hardy (all City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra), Grahame King (Birmingham Royal Ballet), Owen Gunnell (O-Duo), Sophie Hastings (4mality) and Cormac Byrne (freelance Bodhran specialist). I see myself as a highly academic and professional individual, with a keen eye for detail, whom seeks perfection regardless the task.
During my musical career, I have offered one-to-one tuition in drum kit, orchestral percussion, guitar and music theory to students aged 11-18. As well as musical tuition, I have tutored young people in subjects on the national curriculum at Active TT in Liverpool, where I also completed a number of EduCare online training courses. I have experience tutoring both one-to-one and group sessions in all of the above specialisms.
I thoroughly enjoy being a motivator of success in young musicians. Watching someone develop musically is highly rewarding for both student and tutor, and this a feeling I want to share with as many students as possible. Music education possesses a multitude of transferable skills, which I believe can be fundamental regardless the career path one may go down. In addition, music has the potential to provide a sense of escapism to the musician, to help with mental health struggles and general morale. Playing with other musicians tends to be the most educational experience in this profession, so I strive to join in with the playing with my students, both to give them inspiration and confidence. The practise room is the place to make mistakes - students should never expect to be perfect at any point of their development, as there is no area to develop if one portrays perfection and mastery from day one.
