Information About David - Mitcham teacher
I have played for percussion for over 20 years, playing in various rock, pop, jazz and orchestral groups, gigging extensively.
I have taught for over 15 years, including 4 years full time teaching in schools and colleges. I've taught drums, percussion and music theory, as well as classroom teaching in primary schools. My students have achieved a 100% pass rate in Rockschool and Trinity Guildhall exams. I have also tutored ensembles, including the Surrey County Youth Orchestra, and taken a percussion ensemble on tour to
My main aim in teaching drums is to get students to play along to music as a step towards playing in a group. Drumkit is really a group instrument and playing along to music is the best and most enjoyable way to replicate this. I also give a good grounding in technique and music theory, so that as the student moves on in their playing they have the tools to take on more challenging material.
