Hi! I'm a 19 year old violinist, currently in my second year at the Royal Academy of Music in London. I am originally from Edinburgh, and started violin through my local primary school when I was 9 years old. I achieved ABRSM Grade 8 violin with distinction when I was 14, and achieved ABRSM Grade 8 distinction in piano when I was 16.
In 2014, I joined the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior department, where I would receive lessons and coaching on a Saturday with Scotland's best musicians and teachers. During my time there I led both the Symphony Orchestra and the String Ensemble for two years. I perform regularly as a soloist and have given a solo recital at the Scottish Parliament for the First Ministers Portrait Exhibition.
I am currently leader of my quartet at the Academy, where we do regular concerts and receive world-class coaching. I have a lot of orchestral experience and hope to play in one of London’s top orchestras after I graduate. I have been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland for many years and in 2016 we performed at the BBC Proms in London!
I received places at 5 of the UK's top music conservatoires and was lucky enough to receive a scholarship to study at the Royal Academy of Music.
I have some experience of teaching violin and piano to school age children, each of them with different aims and musical backgrounds. I love teaching and sharing my passion for music. I enjoy working with children and would like to further my experience in teaching adults. I believe if you have the right motivation, age does not matter at all.
I am able to teach through ABRSM grades and other kinds of qualifications or if you're just wanting to do it for fun! So we can discuss your aims together. I am also able to teach music theory.
I am a relaxed, enthusiastic and patient teacher and try to make each lesson different, fun and enjoyable. I would be happy to help you to learn music as a complete beginner or strengthen your abilities as an advanced player. I am able to offer lessons at my home in North West London or I could also travel to you, but might have to charge a little bit more. I charge £35 for one hour, £30 for 45 minutes and £25 for half an hour. I strongly believe that children should receive 30 minutes a week as I have found that generally they start to lose concentration after half an hour.
If you are interested in receiving violin and piano lessons, please feel free to contact me for a chat / any questions you may have or to arrange a lesson.
