Hi, my name is Danai. I am a composer, singer and pianist with a Masters Distinction in Composition for Screen from the Royal College of Music, a Bachelors in Music Performance (Vocals) from the Institute of Contemporary Music Performance and 9 years of classical piano training at the Conservatoire of Veria, Greece.
I have studied, written and performed music all my life and my aim is to pass on my love for music to students of all ages and levels!
I teach piano, singing, composition and music production.
I am currently teaching students aged 11 (piano - grade III) to 29 (music production - intermediate).
Past teaching experience also includes planning and formulating daily piano practice schedules for a 7 year old boy and overlooking his progress 4 days a week as he advanced from grade I to grade III.
The most important aspect of music tutoring should be a comfortable environment that is welcoming to any creative ideas and input the student might want to share. Creativity has no wrong answers. We will work together to eliminate performance anxiety, adopt healthy practising habits and create a rich set of skills for your craft, whether it's in front of a microphone or a computer screen!
In more detail:
For beginner and intermediate level pianists that want to go through the ABRSM system (grades 1-6). My piano training includes 9 years at the Music Conservatory of Veria in Greece which employs the Russian teaching method. Through a combination of proper technique, sight reading and a dash of music theory, we will work on building your musicianship while nurturing a healthy and efficient at-home practice schedule!
!!!Please note that I can only provide piano lessons at your home!!!
You will learn how to build your stamina and work on acquiring a healthy singing technique that will allow for a natural, clear vocal tone with minimum strain. Employing a number of exercises specifically tailored around your individual requirements, we will focus on building a repertoire of your taste while expanding your singing range, clarity of tone and vocal flexibility.
!!!Please note that I can only provide singing lessons at your home!!!
MUSIC PRODUCTION (CUBASE)
As a film composer, I have worked extensively with Cubase (digital audio workstation) and can teach you how to build a simple band session or how to bring that orchestral mix to life. I have run and produced several large and small orchestral recording sessions but primarily work with sampled instruments for contemporary film scores. So whether you want to learn how to record your band, need some preparation ahead of your Masters application or just want to bring your pen and paper compositions to life, you’ll be in very experienced hands!
COMPOSITION/ CREATIVE WRITING
I teach a combination of Sibelius (music notation software) and Cubase. Going through the principles of orchestration as they’ve been passed down by the great classical composers or experimenting with granular synthesis and sound manipulation to achieve a Radiohead-type sound, you will be taught the right tools to express your creativity and develop your own, unique voice!
