Personal Description:

Hi! I'm the Principal Flute of the English National Opera orchestra, and I regularly perform as guest principal flute with all major London orchestras such as the LSO, Philharmonia and LPO. I teach online across any time zones, and enjoy helping my students gain confidence and fulfilment in their playing.

I graduated from Oxford University with a first-class degree in Music, and completed my postgraduate at the Royal College of Music, which I now regularly return to as a teacher, coach and examiner. I am a member of the Musicians Union and have public liability insurance that covers any in-person lessons.

Tutoring Experience:

I am a friendly and enthusiastic teacher, and I'm always happy to be flexible and to progress at a pace that suits you, so please don't hesitate to get in touch!

I have over ten years experience teaching flute students of all ages and standards, from complete beginners to postgraduate conservatoire level. I'm happy to work towards ABRSM grade exams if desired, or help you work towards your musical goals whether that's learning a particular piece, improving your technique, or preparing for an audition.

I teach online as well as in person, so we can organise a lesson regardless of distance, time zone, or current covid restrictions! I also offer consultation lessons for those people who want occasional guidance rather than regular lessons.

Tutoring Approach:

My priority as a music teacher is putting my students at ease and encouraging them to broaden their idea of what they can achieve. I really believe that people make the most progress when they are relaxed and enjoying themselves, so I endeavour to find repertoire that my students are enthusiastic about, as well as things that challenge them. I treat every student as an individual and take their own musical goals into account, and engage with my students in a respectful way that lets them know that the lesson is a place that they can try new things in their playing and be creative.

I'm happy to provide references from current students, you can get in touch with no obligation to continue. Please also feel free to enquire about online lessons - if you've never had a music lesson online before I'll talk you through the technical side of it before our first lesson. I also have a safeguarding policy for younger students, get in touch if you'd like to see this.
