I am a full-time professional musician, vocalist, vocal coach and songwriter. I've toured the UK and Europe extensively with various bands including my current band 'Soeur', playing alongside the likes of Idles, Yonaka, Saint Agnes and Vex Red. My songs are regularly played on BBC Radio 1, including being invited by the R1 Rock Show to record at Maida Vale, and have played prestigious music venues and festivals such as Reading & Leeds, Greenman and Boomtown.
I have an eclectic music taste and have kept a busy schedule, playing weddings, functions and parties for nearly ten years. Alongside this I've always taught singing. I particularly enjoy teaching students who sing pop, rock and musical theatre as this compliments my experience base.
I am a Laney endorsed artist and I also sing in Choir Noir.
On the rare occasions I'm not playing, recording or writing music, I am also currently studying for a maths degree with the Open University.
I have over 8 years private teaching experience and have worked with children who are just starting out, to semi-professional singers looking to expand their technique. I've run workshops at BIMM and mentored several young singers starting out in their music careers.
I firmly believe that everyone can sing. Often learning to sing, especially in the early stages, is more about learning to do less rather than learning how to do more. Whether this is working to relax jaw tension or freeing up your breathing, your voice is already there; I can help you uncover it.
At the age of 21 I had to develop a streamlined and efficient vocal technique that could withstand the pressures of an intensive touring schedule. I have often been singing rock which can put extra strain on the voice if not done properly.
Unlike most instruments, you can only ever have one voice, so it's crucial to look after it. I'll help you to build vocal stamina, essential for career longevity by developing healthy habits. Vocal health should always be the priority for any singer - there's no point being able to make a certain sound or sing in a certain way if you can only do it for a short time without damaging your voice.
Learning to really examine your vocal technique and style will also help you find new ways of being expressive, challenge your 'musical habits' and ultimately give you so much more choice with how you come across as a musician.
So much about singing is about feeling relaxed and confident. We learn best when we're having fun and feeling good about ourselves and I will work with you to build your confidence and truly connect with the absolute joy that singing can bring to the table.
Whether you're a parent looking to help your child find a love of music; an adult beginner who has always felt they wanted to sing but lacked the confidence or a singer with a developed technique who just feels like they need a refresher - I can help you.
