Personal Description:

I'm a multi-instrumentalist, teacher, composer, and festival director. I enjoy teaching all ages and abilities. I've written to commission for leading performers; I also write educational music including tutor books and studies. I run a private tuition practice in Buckinghamshire. I'm also Artistic Director of the Penkhull Festival of Music and Art in Stoke-on-Trent, and a trustee of the Piano Trio Society.

Tutoring Experience:

I have sixteen years experience in music education in the public and independent sectors, and the private tuition sector, teaching instrumental disciplines to all ages and abilities. I've been an instrumental tutor for two music services, teaching clarinet, saxophone, piano and theory. I've also been a head of music in primary and secondary phases, where I've taught GCSE, A Level, IB, and BTEC courses in music. Currently, I run a private tuition practice and work as a visiting music teacher in the independent sector.

Tutoring Approach:

I adopt a student centred approach, offering a bespoke course of tuition tailored to each individual. Whether beginner or advanced, it is important for all students to make progress and enjoy playing their instrument, and I aim to create high quality lessons that are supportive, musical and purposeful, and, especially with younger learners, to make lessons fun and encouraging.
