Information About Chris - Stockport teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Chris:
I am a 36 year old guitarist based in Manchester. I have been a professional musician since graduating from University in 2006 and since then toured the UK extensively in musicals and tribute shows and internationally on some of the most famous cruise ships in the world. I am a rocker at heart and enjoy guitar driven music throughout the decades. I am also a lover of jazz, blues, funk, classical and acoustic styles and regularly perform in various musical line ups and settings nationwide.
I have 15 years of teaching experience, which includes working for two local music service authorities for 6 years, working at many private music schools and running the guitar department at the Yamaha Music School. I have taught one to one lessons, both remotely and in person, small group ensembles, including rock band line ups and full class instrumental teaching. I have also taught music theory to GCSE and A Level standard.
I have a very holistic approach to instrumental tuition, as I like the student to lead the lesson in a direction that they are interested in and one that will benefit them as a player long term. I have taught from the Rockschool, Yamaha and RGT syllabus, along with Trinity and Associated Board for classical guitarists. I like to explore improvisation and composition along with notation reading and music theory but I always emphasise an element of fun, whether that be learning a favourite song or making up your own.
