Information About Chris - Burnley teacher
I've been drumming since around 1985. I've studied with Steve White (Paul Weller, The Style Council, The Who, etc etc), and toured much of the world playing drums. I began teaching drums in 2001, and am a member of the Drumsense team. When teaching beginners, I use Colin Woolway's Drumsense books (I do teach to read music and drum charts). For more advanced players, I have a vast library of teaching material covering any style you could possibly wish to learn.
I've been giving private drum lessons since 2001. In 2000, I attended a year long Access To Music College course designed to give prospective music tutors the tools to teach well. This included a placement in a Secondary School in Bury as a music teacher's assistant.
I like to teach how to read music and drum charts. I believe this makes the learning / practising process much easier and quicker. I use the Drumsense books which cover rock / pop and jazz styles. For more advanced study, I have a wealth of teaching material that I like to use. The Rockschool series of books are very popular, and I also teach from these which are based on playing songs to a backing track. Qualifications are available from Rockschool.
