Information About Charlotte - Hove teacher

Personal Description:

I am a classically trained pianist who graduated from City University London with a BMus hons. music degree in 2003. During this time I also studied piano under John York at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

I'm also an experienced performer and songwriter. I spent over a decade fronting my own country-rock band where I played at many venues, events and festivals in the UK, Europe, Nashvile USA and Santiago Chile.

Aside from my live gigging experience and classical training, I am also a media composer and write music for TV and radio.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching privately full time since 2012. During this time I also spent a couple of years teaching small groups at a music centre in Sutton. My students range from 4 years to 80 and every age inbetween! I have entered many students for ABRSM piano exams and have 100% success rate. I have also recorded some of my students singing their own songs and provided arrangements for their songs.

Tutoring Approach:

I teach piano, guitar, singing and song-writing in a friendly and relaxed style. The lessons are tailored around your needs, so whether you’re looking to take a classical grade on the piano or learn to play your favourite song on the guitar, I will structure the lesson to suit you.

Piano: I teach the ABRSM exam syllabus for students looking to take classical exams. I also use a variety of other tutor books for beginners and those not interested in taking exams

Guitar: I teach popular guitar with an emphasis on learning to play a wide variety of chords and also developing numerous strumming and picking techniques.

Singing: I will work with you to develop and understand your voice in more detail. Much work begins before even singing a note! Breathing exercises and body warm ups play an integral part in my lessons. I teach 'pop' and 'rock' style singing.
