Personal Description:

I am a young and experienced teacher with a wealth of knowledge in both music and education. I enjoy working with a broad range of students, who themselves work on a variety of musical styles, levels and abilities.

I believe in delivering inspiring, well rounded lessons, that promote curiosity and enjoyment. This is while ensuring a well structured and focused approach to the development of technique and musicality.

Lessons are all tailored to each individual, to reflect their own personal goals, interests and abilities.

Tutoring Experience:

I have a extensive experience teaching both in schools (Primary and Secondary) and privately, having prepared students for a number of exams, competitions and performances including:

University entrance exams
Grades 1-8 Piano Examinations
Grades 1-8 Theory Examinations
Scottish National 5 / Higher Music Examinations
Regional Music Festivals and Competitions

Further to this I work with a broad range of ages and levels. I am experienced in teaching preschool aged children, adults as well as siblings.

Tutoring Approach:

Strong focus on the development of good technique and musical understanding, appropriate to level.

Lessons are well rounded and tailored to suit each student. I consider enjoyable and engaging lessons central to successful learning. Performance practice, technical work, music theory/history as well as a musical understanding all contribute to a well rounded, knowledgable and successful player. These elements are important in giving someone the tools to continue to develop independently in the future, and enjoy their playing, with or without a teacher.
