Personal Description:

I am from the UK and currently teach the cello and piano in Bermuda. My role goes beyond instruction; I serve as an accompanist for my students' exams and perform regularly in concerts, both with my pupils and as a professional cellist. My long-standing presence in the island's music scene has allowed me to help shape the next generation of musicians while continuing to perform myself.

Tutoring Experience:

With over 20 years of teaching experience both in the UK and Bermuda, I work with a diverse range of students, from young beginners to adults, including those with special needs. I hold Suzuki training for the cello and have experience in Kindermusik. My expertise extends to music theory, which I teach at various levels, from incorporating engaging activities for beginners to preparing students for their ABRSM Grades 1 to 5 examinations.

Since 2020, I have also cultivated extensive experience teaching cello, piano, and music theory online via Zoom.

I earned a BA in Music from Bath Spa University and a Postgraduate Diploma in Instrumental Music Teaching from Reading University. My students consistently achieve high pass rates in their ABRSM examinations, including numerous merits and distinctions.

Tutoring Approach:

I offer a tailored approach to music education, creating individualised lesson plans and providing precise practice goals. For online students, I use digital tools to track progress and deliver detailed feedback on music theory. Lessons are also enriched with broader musical context, covering composers, history, and musical styles to cultivate a well-rounded appreciation for music.
