Personal Description:

I aim to use my education and life experiences to inspire others to achieve through music. I am a drum tutor, sound healer, composer/producer who is interested in using music as tool to aid self-expression and healing. I am a positive and sociable character with excellent communication skills. I am a flexible, hard worker who enjoys a challenge.

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching Drums at New Foundations Home Education for nearly 3 years. I am a trained Community Music Wales Tutor who has delivered drum workshops to a variety of different client groups. I teach students from the age of 4 and have experience in working with youngsters with special needs such as dyslexia and Aspergers syndrome as well as youths from pupil referral units.

Tutoring Approach:

I value education and aim to maintain a consistent high standard of teaching. I think it is important to make the lessons enjoyable and fun especially where younger students are concerned. I often create rhythm games and use colourful notation as a learning aid. I have had students as young as 4 writing their own rhythms in drum notation. I like to incorporate music theory into my lessons as I feel that reading and writing music is a valuable skill, but this is not essential, I adapt lessons to suit the individual.

I teach Drum kit lessons on a one to one basis. This involves good communication, planning and organising skills. I support and encourage learners to progress and learn at their own pace. I am aware that learners have different levels of ability and adjust my methods to suit their needs.

I continuously evaluate my teaching, objectives and student achievements. I measure how successful my lessons are via visual observations and verbal interaction. This enables me to assess whether or not I need to revaluate my teaching methods.

I continue to improve my skills and knowledge so that I am equipped with proficiencies that I need to keep participants engaged. I always provide positive feedback for students to encourage further development.
