Information About Caitlin Alais - Bristol teacher - (4 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Caitlin Alais:
I am a professionally trained pianist and double bassist, working as an educator and performer around Bristol and the Southwest. I studied Music and Composition at the University of Edinburgh and the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. Professionally I am interested in several forms of music, including Classical, Musical Theatre, Jazz, Folk and Experimental.
You can catch me performing in groups such as: Porcini Trio (Classical), Big R Big Band (swing/jazz), Wild Words (storytelling/theatre), Vervain (Celtic folk), CoMA (contemporary classical), Hands of the Heron (English folk), Halftone Quartet (experimental), among others!
I have been teaching piano/double bass for 6 years (in Edinburgh, The Hague, NL and Bristol), and teaching choirs for 3 years (in Bristol). I also teach HE Musical Theatre modules at Weston College, and work as a Freelance Practitioner for Bristol Plays Music. Although I work with a wide range of ages, my specialty is working with primary school aged children.
I have successfully coached students through their ABRSM exams (up to Grade III) in piano.
I always adapt my lessons to the individual needs of the student, while also ensuring that their technique and theory are up to scratch. I encourage my students to explore and develop their own tastes in music, and help them to discover their passion.
