Personal Description:
*ONLINE LESSONS AVAILABLE* I have been teaching from my home studio via Zoom/FaceTime/Skype since March, including piano, singing and violin students. I've had lots of good feedback about this setup!
My name is Billie and I’m a music teacher based in Crawley. I worked as a music teacher both privately and in schools in London for 5 years and am now studying voice at RCS (I’m a soprano).
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught piano, voice, violin and theory to many students over 10 years. My students have sat exams ranging from Grades 1 through to 8, and some have just been learning casually for fun. I’ve worked both privately and also for larger groups, like local councils who send me into schools to do classroom lessons, and more recently I’ve been employed by churches to teach their children’s choirs (not just singing but also theory and piano). My youngest student was 4 years old and my oldest 70!
Tutoring Approach:
I always aim to create a good balance between a relaxed atmosphere and making good progress - too much emphasis on either can hinder things! Good work only usually happens when a students feels at ease in their lesson and fully understands what’s being taught without feeling rushed (or like it’s too easy). It’s our job as teachers is to check that our students are being challenged enough to work but not so much that it’s off-putting! Making music is fun and rewarding and I hope all my students come away with a love and appreciation for the pieces and songs we’ve explored together.
