Personal Description:

I am a music teacher who specialises in classical guitar and music theory (among other instruments), and have taught students of varying ages and abilities. I have a range of experience performing in various ensembles and choirs, taking part in concerts, festivals, productions, weddings, funerals, workshops, courses and tours. I first began my own musical education when I was about 7 years old, and am passionate about helping others to experience music in a positive, fun and progressive way.

Tutoring Experience:

I have ten years of teaching experience, the latter four years including employment as a peripatetic classical guitar teacher at Connaught House School in central London, and the past year as a classroom music teacher and guitar club leader at The Dominie school in Battersea Park. My combined degree from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and the Open University has further developed my abilities in the areas of: guitar musicianship, performance, solo and ensemble playing, Kodály musicianship, keyboard musicianship, aural skills, harmony, analysis, composition, arrangement, jazz, music history, conducting, and aesthetics.

Tutoring Approach:

My passion for effective and enjoyable teaching is a result of the enormously positive experiences that I have had with some of my own teachers. Their inspiration and encouragement made all the difference to my learning and to my decision to pursue music as a career, and I am committed to providing my own students with a similarly positive experience of music making.

I am driven to help my students achieve their very best, and I have a 100% pass rate for classical guitar exams with ABRSM. My patience and understanding enable me to adapt my teaching methods and material to best suit the specific requirements of each individual student, which, as my experience has shown me, produces the best possible results. Whether the focus is on graded exams or a more casual approach, my aim is for enjoyment to be the primary motivation in lessons.
