- Can tailor all violin tuition to individual goals and learning styles
I have been study the violin for over 12 years and have gained a lot of teaching experience in that time. Studied in College on the Specialist Music Course in Winchester at 16 and began teaching at aged 19 when I start to study for my degree at Trinity Laban under my teacher Mayumi Fujikawa.
Tutoring Experience:
Currently I am employed at Lewisham Music as a Violin Tutor and I have been privately teaching for 10 years. I have been teaching all ages from senior adults to children as young as 4 years old. I have experience working with children with learning difficulties and disabilities including working with the Venus Blazing charity where I taught music during the summer for 4 years to students with Down Syndrome specifically. I have taken part in teaching workshops working with the London Philharmonic through the Animate Orchestra project, working with teenagers. I have also attended workshops with teachers in the Suzuki method in London.
Tutoring Approach:
I teach classical music, including preparation for grading ABRSM and Trinity exam boards, as well folk music and theory. I can tailor and structure the lessons to what your needs and desires in terms of what you would like to achieve. I have taught children aged 4 up to any adults who are motivated to learn a new skill.
Each child is very specific when it comes to teaching something personally challenging like the violin. From this point I then begin the students with necessities to holding and creating a good sound on the violin, teaching them how to respond to their body and be aware of what they are doing physically and through sound. Most importantly, I want to teach them what joys music can bring to life and have a fun time learning something new.
