Information About Richard Ben - Welling teacher
This is how 3 referees rated Richard Ben:
Hi, I'm Ben. I am 26, a professional actor and violinist and a graduate of one of the country's leading drama schools: The Oxford School of Drama.
I began playing violin at a very young age and I have had a huge passion for music ever since. I am a classically trained violinist and gained ABRSM Grade 8 with distinction. My playing experience covers a wide variety of musical genres - I have played as a soloist as well as with ensembles including classical orchestras, folk bands, chamber orchestras and rock bands. I have also incorporated my music into my acting career performing as an actor musician and on occasion playing in a production’s pit band.
I love music to evokes emotion and be full of feeling and this is something that comes across in my playing style and teaching.
Prior to attending Drama School I spent two years teaching in my local area tutoring students of all ages and abilities, from those just starting out, to students and adults working towards ABRSM grades or playing just for fun.
Violin Teacher from 2012-2014 at:
Windermere School (Windermere)
Dowdales School (Dalton-in-Furness)
Ulverston Victoria High School (Ulverston)
Furness Academy (Barrow-in-Furness)
In addition to the teaching of violin my experience of working with children also includes working for Stagecoach Performing Arts as an early stages leader.
I believe it is very important for children to enjoy and engage with music at a young age. The taking up of an instrument helps develop learning skills, confidence and creativity providing enjoyment for years to come.
My approach to teaching is to inspire and encourage in a fun and laid-back style while maintaining a high level of focus on technique and on getting the very best out of anyone I teach. My lessons would be structured around playing the type of music you want to play and achieving what you want to achieve, whether this is to take Grades, play folk music or just to jam along to pop music in your bedroom. Music should be enjoyable and exciting and that is the main focus for me when teaching.
As an actor it is important to me that the music be filled with feeling and emotion and this is something I can help you achieve in your playing.
