Information About Ben - Leeds teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Ben:
I am a full time Pianist living and working in and around Leeds. I have been playing the piano since I was very young and achieved grade 8 when I was 16. I went on to study music at university and have remained in the industry ever since.
I currently divide my time between performing, accompanying, teaching, composing and practicing. I have been musical director for several theatre productions in recent years; I accompany some local choirs and solo singers and instrumentalists; I am the resident pianist at The Oxford and Cambridge Club as well as playing for lots of events such as weddings, charity balls and birthday parties.
I am very passionate about teaching. I have been very lucky to be taught by some fantastic teachers who have been inspirational to me over the years and I strive to be the same to all my own students.
I have been teaching Jazz and Classical piano for 15 years and up until September 2009 I led The Sage Gateshead's Jazz Programme and tutored on the prestigious Weekend School and Young Musicians Programmes.
I currently have 30 private piano students ages 5 - 67. Many students go through ABRSM graded exams while some just want to play for fun. I am happy either way! I have helped GCSE, A-Level and Undergraduate students with their performing, theory and composition skills and have a broad knowledge of the music industry and how to tackle it which I enjoy sharing.
I can provide 1 to 1 piano tuition with a specialization in either jazz, popular or classical music. I set high standards for myself and my students and to date have a 100% pass rate for ABRSM graded exams.
I have a lot of experience of running workshops for small groups of musicians which focus on Jazz and Improvisation methods. This is a great and fun way to learn and also to meet other like minded people and I am happy to talk to you about your groups needs.
Lessons in my own home or (if time allows) I can travel to the students chosen location. They will normally be either 30mins or 1 hour duration.
I am experienced at teaching all ages and abilities and particularly welcome complete beginners, young or not so young! In my sessions I always aim to provide the student with an exciting learning experience achieving a good balance between structured tuition and enjoyment of the instrument and the music.
All lessons are tailor made for each students individual needs. Please get in touch with any questions about any aspect of learning to play the piano and I will do my best to help and to arrange a programme that will suit you.
