Information About Ben - Wembley teacher
I have been playing drums for 17 years and in that time have performed within a number of different settings. These vary from musicals, wedding functions and jazz bands. I have recording experience in a studio setting and live setting. My proudest gig was in a sold out Hallam FM arena where I played a drum solo infont of 13,500 people. I am currently studying a masters degree at The Royal Academy of Music.
I have been teaching for 7 years. This includes teaching privately and in schools. I have experience teaching all levels and all ages having taught in primary schools, high schools and sixth form colleges. I have worked through a number of syllabuses including Rock School, Trinity Guildhall and ABRSM. I am currently studying to recieve a Licenciate in teaching. A fact that I am very proud of is in all my years of teaching, I have had only two students recieve less than an 'honours' result in an exam.
I don't believe in working through a standard set of work books or recordings. I use my experience to tailor a unique programme for each student depending on what I believe to be most suitable to that individual.
Playing the drums is primarily about making music in an ensemble, whatever genre that ensemble may be. I believe this is a very important fact to remember and using a number of backing tracks or with me playing piano, the student will have plenty of opportunites to play with relevant and up to date music.
I teach on a top of the range 'Roland TD-20' electronic drum kit as well as an acoustic drum kit or am willing to travel up to 5 miles with negotiation.
I welcome any kind of student whether they wish to take it seriously and work through grade exams, or they just want to have fun playing along with their favourite music.
