Information About Ionica - Baldock teacher

Personal Description:

I am a fully qualified teacher (QTS) with over 20 years of classroom experience, working with children of all ages and learning needs. Ten years ago, I decided to follow one of my lifelong dreams — learning to play the guitar. With dedication, I quickly progressed through the Trinity College London classical guitar grades, achieving Grade 7 with Distinction, and later expanded into teaching and playing the ukulele. I am currently studying for Grade 8.

Tutoring Experience:

My background in teaching has been invaluable in helping me structure lessons, motivate students, and break learning into clear, achievable steps. Since 2019, I’ve been teaching guitar and ukulele both online and face-to-face, and I now run my own home music studio.

Specialised with:

~ Neurodiverse Learners: Over 70% of my students are neurodiverse. As someone who identifies as neurodiverse myself, I am passionate about creating lessons that build confidence, resilience, and self-esteem. My background in schools means I have strategies to support students with autism, ADHD, and anxiety, making lessons clear, encouraging, and engaging.

~ Motivation & Wellbeing: I believe music is a tool for self-expression and wellbeing. I work hard to connect students with music that excites them and keeps them inspired to practise.

~ Adults Living Their Dream: I know what it’s like to start as an adult learner — I’m living proof that it’s possible to progress quickly and enjoy the journey. Many of my adult students are now happily playing songs they love on guitar or ukulele.
