Information About Ayoze - Acton teacher
I am a 28 year old, experienced drummer/percussionist. At the age of 22, i was already teaching private lessons and playing as a session drummer in different bands. I moved from Canary Islands (Spain) to London three years ago mainly to study a BMus Popular Music Performance in London College of Music and Media. My knowledge and playing covers many styles of music such as Funk, Alternative Rock, Reggae, Latin Percussion, Bossa nova, Samba, Jazz, Blues, Country, African-rhythms and Flamenco. My Percussion set consists of a Drum kit, Congas, Bongos, Djembe, Cowbell, Guiro, and a Cajon Flamenco.
As a drum teacher, my roles have included teaching drums in a High School in Canary Islands. Students their were aged 11-18 years old, not only boys but girls. I had to prepare lessons for students (as individuals or in groups of 15) about styles of music, playing patterns along with a metronome, technique, foot and hand independence, reading and writing music. As well I had to prepare and help students in their Live Performance Workshops. At the end of each lesson I made sure that the students understood what had been taught. Furthermore as part of my degree, I have recently finished a Music Education Project in ‘Grange Primary School’ (Ealing). Other classmates and myself had to prepare four lessons where we were teaching Music theory, rhythms and several styles of music.
My lessons orientate towards practical applications both music theory and drum concepts/technique (such as Sight Reading, Rhythm Studies, Independence Exercises, Moeller Technique, Polyrhythms, Hand Techniques, Inner Clock, etc) helping students to get skills required to play any styles of music. All of these elements are also combined with the study of a specific musical style, chosen by students or me depending on the topic of study. Each style of music will feature a short historical introduction of its cultural origins and most influencial movements to help students to gain a wider perspective of understanding and appreciation. On top of this, i will also teach students methods of relaxation before and during practice or performances.
