I am a private piano teacher based in London who will travel to you!
If you are looking for a friendly, experienced and knowledgable tutor in classical piano for yourself, or your children, then I can help! Having recently obtained my degree in piano performance from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, I am qualified and confident in guiding you to achieve your musical goals and ambitions, whether this be for pure enjoyment, a new hobby, exams or all of them!
I have almost 5 years of experience teaching privately and enjoyed working as a tutor at an independent music school with many students at different levels and ages. I tailor and structure lessons to best suit the individual with the intention of making your music learning personal, enjoyable and engaging. It is important to have a comfortable, open and relaxed learning environment, allowing you to learn the most effectively and hopefully have fun doing so! I studied and succeeded at pedagogy during my undergraduate years, increasing my skills and in-depth knowledge on successful teaching practises which I hope will benefit my students and allow them to progress quickly and efficiently.
To ensure that you become a well rounded musician with a skill that will last a lifetime, lessons will cover everything including hand shape, posture, reading of notation, musical expression, technique, theory and much more. If you are a beginner or haven't been playing long, I will make sure that good habits are taught and formed from the start to create a strong foundation that will allow you to go far in your musical journey.
From my past tutoring experience, I have found that the method of simultaneous learning works well with many students and is much more enjoyable and motivating for the learner. In a nutshell, simultaneous learning involves getting rid of the typical, often demotivating and reactive method of focusing on mistakes and 'using this part of the lesson for scales, then this time spent for sight reading' etc… instead, being proactive and combining multiple elements into activities, forming musical connections effortlessly, achieving a deep understanding of all that is worked on helping to keep the learner interested and engaged - developing many areas of their musicianship every lesson in a positive environment therefor allowing all students to flourish musically.
I teach students from the age of 8+, and have experience preparing students for exams from the main boards including ABRSM, LCM and Trinity Guildhall if this is desired. I have a 100% pass rate for all students who have taken exams under my tuition.
I am enhanced DBS checked and have completed the Educare Child Protection course, along with holding a Safeguarding and Protection certificate (all available upon request). I am also a member of the ISM (Incorporated Society of Musicians), the UK's professional body for musicians.
If you would like to have a listen to me play, this link will take you to my CD on Apple Music which I released this year. Enjoy! **Web Address Removed**
