Information About Annie - Sheffield teacher
This is how 2 referees rated Annie:
I am a second year genetics student at the university of Sheffield. Although I do not study music, I do go on courses to improve my theoretic, technical and musical knowledge. I have been involved with many choirs including the university chamber choir and spent a year as a choral scholar at Sheffield Cathedral. I have performed as a guest soprano for choirs including the Sheffield Teacher's Choir and the Hart Male Voice Choir.
I am relatively new to professional teaching however I have taught casually for a few years. I have also been the Musical Director for the University Performing Arts Society for their "Musical Theatre Mondays".
Depending on the age of the student I take many different approaches. Younger students should not be focusing on technique but should rather be coached to not pick up bad habits. Trying to learn technique in younger singers can lead to problems down the road. As a students voice is starting to mature, it becomes necessary to slowly start to build up the technique and support systems. For more mature, casual learners, more technique may be involved in the sessions.
The first session would be spent assessing the student to ensure that lessons would be at the correct level.
