Hello, I’m Annabel, a private tutor in woodwind (sax, flute and clarinet) and theory. I have been playing the saxophone for 20 years in various different bands and genres, the flute for around 11 years and the clarinet is a recent addition in the last couple of years! I am classically trained, doing my degree specialising in solo performance (Classical, Contemporary and Latin) but spent my degree playing in the university Big Band. Whilst living in Spain I was in a 50s rockabilly band for a year, and have moved back into a high quality 22-piece big band in Sheffield. I am a qualified secondary school Music and Drama teacher.
As a qualified music teacher I have been teaching classroom music for 5 years, directing ensembles and developing students’ musicianship. I have recently moved into teaching woodwind with the music service, allowing me to teach my craft more specifically and watching students in their private lessons flourish. I teach saxophone both privately and in school settings, and have watched my students flourish and grow.
I absolutely love teaching music. I ensure that music is taught through the instrument and ensure students are becoming rounded musicians, not just performers. It is important for me that I display ‘best practice’, so students feel confident that they are getting high quality tuition from me.

Her approach is very relaxed and fun and she is able to give really good examples of songs from different genres that demonstrates the theory covered in each lesson.
