Personal Description:
Kawai Baby Grand owning piano teacher, educated to Master’s degree level with over 30-years’ experience. Current Enhanced DBS Certificate. Offering in person and online lessons via Zoom.
As well as English, I speak both Spanish and Polish fluently.
Tutoring Experience:
My academic life has been spent pursuing my dream of becoming a fantastic piano player and, in the later years, teaching others who have a similar love of the piano. I have been teaching students to play the piano since 1983.
Among my merits as a teacher is that several of my students have been awarded prizes in competitions.
Tutoring Approach:
If you are studying for grades 1-2 of the ABRSM syllabus or just wanting to learn piano for fun, you lessons will be relaxed.
However, the higher grades require more time from you and your teacher. The prices I charge for tuition vary with the grade you are working towards. I can teach you up to grades 7-8 level and beyond. ARSM, DipABRSM, LRSM & FRSM diploma lessons are more intense.
Music theory is important not only for piano students but for all musicians as it will give you confidence in you own abilities and put you in a better position for your chosen instrument playing.
While you could learn to play piano by ear, or the ‘rote & note’ method, understanding music theory will make you a better musician. Taking time to learn theory will open up a whole world of music appreciation that is lost on people who cannot read music.
If you would like to expand your musical knowledge, I run theory classes for students with a maximum of 4 per class on Saturday mornings.
