Personal Description:
If you want to learn how to be creative and improvise and solo, I can help. I am a talented and well rounded musician, having taught myself jazz and improvisation after being classically trained from the age of 10, I then went on to study Jazz at the London Music School, where I received distinctions in all classes. My musical focus is on jazz harmony and improvisation, rather than classical.
I can also teach song writing and composition, as well as music production and theory.
I am proficient in music production using pro tools, and also native instruments maschine (for beat creation). I run my own music production company and am currently producing local upcoming artists in London.
Tutoring Experience:
I have taught piano 1 on 1 for many years, and I also made a trip to africa in 2010 to teach a class of young children who had never played piano before, which resulted in great success as the school then employed a full time music teacher after I had inspired them to continue with piano lessons. Since then I have been focussing even more on my own studies and on improving myself as a musician and composer, to offer the greatest amount of experience and inspiration to students.
Tutoring Approach:
With regards to teaching piano, the method is to explain the building blocks that allow creativity to flow in a controlled manner, for example through improvisation. Hopefully the student will understand the rules before they learn how and when to break them in order to achieve their own individual form of musical expression - something that most students will not have encountered through classical training.
If you are a new student I can teach you the basics and the technique to get started with the instrument. If you are an improving player I can show you how to take your playing to the next level. My focus is on creativity and unlocking the music inside of you. The greatest melody, as they say, is the one we haven't heard yet.
For music production, it is very much a leaning whilst doing approach, although these classes must take place in my home studio.
Please note that I can bring a portable piano with me to lessons, although there is a small additional charge for this. It is also possible for students to take lessons at my place.
