Personal Description:

I have been an active musician for nearly 40 years. I started with acoustic and electric guitar at first but added bass guitar after a short while. I have been playing in bands constantly for the last 35 years, both as a guitarist and a bass player and have been involved in several album productions. Currently I play bass in a Milton Keynes based rock band and ukulele in an acoustic two-piece.
I am not a professional musician, but an amateur in the original (and best) sense of the word: someone who loves what he's doing!

Tutoring Experience:

I have been teaching since the moment I knew something that was worth teaching to others (not only music). I have been teaching guitar and bass guitar for a long time to students of all ages and levels.
I have also been working as a maths tutor for the Open University for over 10 years.

Tutoring Approach:

Teaching is something that I really enjoy: helping others to pass the hurdles I had to pass myself in the hope that they find the same joy and fulfilment as I did.
Bass guitar is an instrument that needs to be played in a band to give it its full potential. At the same time there is no other instrument that can be played in a band with so little effort. And bass players are always in demand!
Nevertheless there's lots to learn and the better you get, the more people will listen to you and the more fun you will have playing with others.
I also love playing the ukulele. I have always one in reach to pick a few chords or melodies in between. It's a fantastic instrument that I would recommend to everybody who would like to start playing music as a hobby.
I think it's very important to listen to students to find out what their real aims are and then find the best and easiest approach to achieve these aims. It's also important to point out other routes and goals on the way to broaden the student's horizon and show connections that might complement the student's abilities.
