Information About Amie - Plymouth teacher

Personal Description:

I am from a musical family and grew up with access to a wide variety of musical instruments thanks to my Grandpa, who had an extensive musical career in the army. I first started playing the piano when I was very young and loved it, I achieved grade 4 in 1995. I had a long break, returned to playing as an adult and enjoyed it even more. I’ve always been passionate about music and I am now fortunate enough to have a career teaching something I love. I believe learning should be fun and creative as well as educational and offer bespoke lessons individually tailored to your requirements in a relaxed environment. I am based in Plymouth but online / zoom lessons are also available.

Tutoring Experience:

I am just starting out as a tutor, following my dream of making something I love into a career. I am currently working towards my teacher's diploma so have a real time, working knowledge of music theory and practical examinations. I understand each student has different capabilities and different areas that they wish to improve on and will be offering various performance workshops. I can do this privately or via a group zoom session. The group zoom sessions really are a fantastic way to get over performance nerves and have some helpful feedback before an exam in a friendly environment.

Tutoring Approach:

I am currently offering friendly, approachable face-to-face and online piano tuition up to Grade 6.

I specialise in classical pieces and having learnt my own skills over many years both when I was younger and picking it up again a lot later, I understand the best way to advise and make you feel comfortable in progressing, whatever your confidence or current position happens to be. I can help you learn that piece of music you’ve always wanted to play and am able to help you achieve graded exams and music theory examinations, if you wish.
