Personal Description:

I am a multi-instrumentalist - singing is my main passion, but I also play piano and flute to Grade 5. I have studied Music through school to A-Level, and can teach both from sheet music as well as by ear. I am a trained Arts Award Advisor for Discover-Silver, and completed my own Gold Arts Award in 2014. I have worked with a wide range of ages through my work with community groups and in educational settings, and love finding the ways to best meet each unique personality.

Tutoring Experience:

I am currently a primary teaching assistant and have been tutoring for over a year. During that time, I have tutored both adults and children in both music and academic subjects. I am currently tutoring a range of subjects from beginner flute to GCSE Sciences.

Teaching has always been in my character - all the way through school I was helping and teaching those around me in either a group or one-to-one setting, some in the classroom and some organised sessions outside of lessons to help fellow students with their studies. After leaving formal education, I worked for a folk music charity. This involved primarily work with community groups for all ages, as well as some work in schools and at one-off events, teaching songs and instruments to members of the groups as well as writing songs and arrangements. I also gave some private tuition during this time.

Tutoring Approach:

I love learning and believe that it should always be fun, and tailor lessons to best suit each individual to keep work engaging and interesting, as well as aiming to keep costs affordable so they don`t become a barrier to fun, learning and personal growth for anyone. I can teach from music or by ear, and try keep lessons varied and creative to keep them interesting and fun.
