Information About Alison - Bicester teacher - (7 reviews)
This is how 2 referees rated Alison:
I enjoy playing a variety of styles of music from classical to rock and jazz improvisation. I play violin in a local orchestra (Trinity Camerata) and am a member of the orchestra committee. As part of this role I help organize 3 concerts a year. I also play keyboard for a church music group. In addition to playing violin and piano, I play guitar, recorder and sing. I am married with two children.
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education and have 7 years' experience in teaching in Secondary School. I have experience at providing private tuition on violin and piano and being an accompanist for music examinations. My teaching experience covers all age-groups and includes students with special needs and for whom English is not the first language.
The ability to play an instrument in my opinion provides not only a life-long skill but also a wonderful way to relax, to express oneself creatively, develop confidence and the ability to perform well under pressure and to socialise with fellow musicians. My goal as a teacher is that students should enjoy playing music because this will help motivate them to practise. An important aspect of my teaching is tailoring it to the need of the individual since learning is an individual experience and each person has their own preferred genres and approach to learning. Some students are motivated by doing examinations whereas others just want to play for personal enjoyment. My teaching is flexible and sensitive to these needs.
